My wordpress blog got hacked.

The hacker didn’t do any malicious damage as far as I can tell, but he/she did add some code that added about 100 to 150 invisible links to my header and footer.

I must be a complete idiot…..because I noticed my adsense ads were displaying pharmaceutical related ads. I really didn’t think much of it because I figured Google was messing around and somehow my ads were getting out of context.

I don’t pay that much attention to the adsense ads, I simply try to add content that is useable to my readers and if I get a few google adsense clicks, well, that’s icing on the cake. Anyway, I have no idea how long the ads were being misdirected.

The lesson I learned:

change passwords often

make sure you change your cpanel log in

pay attention to the adsense ads and if completely out of context, check your pages and look for anyone trying to maliciously sneak in some  affiliate links or out of context links.

Everyday I learn something…..I can’t believe there are people with such a lack of morals that they can willingly commit these sins of commission trying to steal from others. The day of judgement will come for them, I pitty their souls.
