Learning website design
Before I could write one piece of html code I purchased books on website desgin. I read the books and had one heck of a time trying to figure out what was suppose to happen.
I found out I needed a website design program like FrontPage or Dreamweaver. After much agony and expense I choose Dreamweaver. This was probably the one of the best decisions I’ve made. I discovered I could reverse engineer just about any webpage by using dreamweaver.
Once I discovered I could view the source code of just about any webpage….I was in heaven. I didn’t want to copy or duplicate the pages of other people, I just wanted to learn how to design the pages in html or php.
My last name is Parat and it sounds like parrot. I repeat what others have done. I’ve learned a basic set of information or knowledge necessary to create just about any webpage. Keep in mind its ok…allowable to copy someones coding for their webpage for study. Just don’t be a moron and paste the exact same code up as your own….you’ll get busted!
I found a tool that can help you understand an entire website….not just a few pages but the whole site. This tool is free and allows you to download an entire site.
Now…think this out…..why would you want to download an entire site. DON’T FORGET THIS….its for study only. By studying other websites, you can learn how to put together your own sites. Remember this…if you copy someones website and duplicate that site as your own…..you will be open to all kinds of law suits…you’ll ruin your reputation and you’ll quickly be known as a jerk and someone not to be dealt with. I really can’t stress this strong enough.
I hesitated sharing this tool because I don’t want people to misuse it.
This tool is called WinHTTrack Website Copier and you can find it at http://www.httrack.com
Please use this as a learning tool, as a way to enhance your website design skills. You might even take a minute to ask the website owner if you could download his site so you can study it. The guy/gal will be either be a jerk and tell ya to F off or you’ll make a new friend.
Good luck…design well!
Scott
