New Link on Google Search Page….. Google Products Search

I was reading Ken McCarty’s blog post about Googles new Product Search. You can find it here….Google Product Search.

Once again, Google will control and change the game. I checked out the product search page for a few items that my wife sells on one of her websites. I know we were on page 1 and #1 position for these items yet I found them nowhere on Googles new Product Search page. I changed terms and searched for about 2 hours. I must have clicked about 200 links on the New Product Search Page …. still I couldn’t find our proudct. I did notice each of the products offered some sort of cart system and I also made sure I searched “showing all items” and not “show Google Checkout items only”

How does one get on the New Google Product Search result?

I’ll have to do some research, although I did stumble on the last line at the bottom of the page

“Google does not charge for inclusion in its search results or accept payment for better placement. To list your items in Google Product Search, upload your product catalog.”

I checked out the page and it appears as though you must submit your products to google and then there’s an indication that there’s a need for optimizing your site properly.

This is straight from the Google Page:

Sell with Google

Got something to sell? We can help make it happen — for free. Then, use Google Checkout to process your online sales.

1. Submit your items
Reach more shoppers by submitting information about your products to Google Base so they’ll be found on Google Product Search. You can link directly from our search results to your website; if you don’t have one, we’ll host your offers for free. Depending on how many items you have, you can choose to submit your products one at a time or all at once using a bulk upload under our “Products” item type.

Further on down the page there appears to be an option to Process your orders with Google Checkout.

Again…straight from the Google Products Page:

3. Process your sales with Google Checkout
Use Google Checkout to charge your customers’ credit cards, process their orders, and receive payment in your bank account. Even better, you pay no fees on sales that you process through Google Checkout. It’s free until 2008

Did you notice Google Checkout is FREE until 2008 … I’ve kinda lost track of time, this is 2007 isn’t it? :)

Well…looks really intersting and I can’t wait to see the gurus come out with ebook, course and video on the new “Google Products Feature” LOL

Thanks Ken for the heads up!

Motivated Marketing System 2.0

I received an email from Phill Coxon regarding upgrading or the new version of Motivated Marketing System 2.0 which started with:

First I want to apologize that I haven’t been in touch with
any updates re: Motivated Marketing System 2.0 in a long
time.

First I want to sincerely “Thank You” for your efforts in resurrecting MMS and I anxiously wait for your finished product.

He discusses the progress of the upgrade or rebuild for Motivated Marketing System and I wish him much success. As for me, I was anxious to get the program up and working with the initial roll out and much to my chagrin the previous owner sucked at supporting and providing any fixes. I think his name was Eric and basically he just rolled out a product, doing a big product launch will all kinds of promises….the program never really worked and he ended up blaming his programmer.

I really don’t know how these scam artists get away with this. They promise the stars and you get nothing. I’m college educated and built a very large construction company, made a lot of money but unfortunately lost more :( I only mention this because if my company provided a service and I used a subcontractor but the guy screwed up…..I had to pay for another guy to get it right. Afterall it was my responsibility. Anyone with any morals and/or ethics would assume responsibility.

So in my eyes, if I put a roof on your house and it leaks…no matter who performed the task, its my responsibility….you paid me….so I must rectify the situation. How would you feel if I said,

Well, sorry for the leaks but my subcontractor did that and I just can’t get him to fix it…you’re on your own.

That’s in essence what this guy Eric did and by the grace of God….Phill Coxon has taken the project over. He’s kept in contact over the past year or so and it appears as though he has his hands full. What’s more I believe he has agreed to provide any upgrades for free and it looks like he has 100’s of hours to invest in the project.

For what it’s worth Phil….I really appreciate your efforts and I’m anxious to see what you end up with. If you need any graphics, let me know, I’ll provide them for free. And to answer your email, “do what you think is best, if a completely new rebuild is necessary and you’re willing to do it….well, I’d be willing to wait and extremely grateful.

Finally, please accept my well wishes for your father and your family. I’ll keep your father in my Prayers. Hope in God, “with God all things are possible”.

Wishing you only the best,

Scott

Web 2.0 ….are you using it?

Ok…it’s taken me a while to start using 2.0 marketing stuff. However, I’m bound and determined to do it.

I’ve been messing around with squido a little and created a lense for my wife. Liz does art work and one of her specialties is painted glass. If you want to check out her Painted Glass lense click on the link. I plan on using it to drive traffic to an ebook we are working on.

I’ll keep you posted as to our progress with squidoo. They have another branch of sqiudo where you create a url that consistis of something like this www.word.keyword.ever.com in my case I set up another page for Liz promoting her glassart or artglass as some prefer. The whole idea is the get some links and therefore traffic back to her site. Almost forgot, the url for her ever.com site looks like http://best.glassart.ever.com/

Monitor Your Server Downtimes

Monitor Your Server Downtimes
It certainly is irritating when your web server is down, because you simply
lose visitors and potential customer. But did you realize you might be
losing more than visitors and potential customers when your web site
can’t be accessed? According to Vanessa Fox of Google, “If the host is
down when Googlebot tries to access your pages, then those pages may
disappear from the index until Googlebot can crawl them again.” But how
do you know your server is down without constantly checking your sites?
This chapter will share a few free services to help you evaluate your
downtimes. From there you can decide if it’s time to look for another
server solution.
Unless you have no life and want to monitor your web site by hand, hitting
the refresh button every five or ten minutes, you will probably be
interested in a tool to monitor the process for you. Fortunately some great
tools exist to do just that, and the best of them are free. These free
services can monitor your downtimes 24 hours a day and 7 days a week
and they will let you know if there is a problem either by email, RSS or
even on your cell phone through SMS.
Here are some of the best free services to monitor your server downtimes,
in no particular order:

FreeTrafficExplosion.com | VideoTrafficAssistant.com
Once you know there has been a downtime issue, you can check in
Google’s free webmaster tools to see if the Googlebot had tried to index
your site while it was down. Google webmaster tools are at
http://www.google.com/webmasters/ and provide a variety of other useful
services as well. Simply click on the Webmaster Tools link and register
your site if you haven’t already. Once registered, you can check the “crawl
errors” link to see if there have been any problems. You can also check
the frequency of visits by the Googlebot to see how long the windows are
between crawls; if you site is not being crawled frequently, obviously you
won’t have to worry about occasional short downtimes.
You don’t have to worry too much if the Googlebot does happen to miss
your site on a particular crawl because the site was down. Vanessa Fox
also stated that Googlebot will give your site a few tries before actually
dropping it from the Google search result pages. But even though it isn’t a
true hit and miss issue, you will still be wise to monitor your server
downtimes and make adjustments when necessary.
It is obvious that if your website is down, people will rarely give you
another chance. If your website gets down too often, it will be in your best
interest to move your website to another host before you start active
promotion.

Reprint of Forum Post regarding PetNiches Membership Site

Unless you’ve been living under a rock…..you know the pet niche is hot! People spend billions of dollars on their pets today and I’ve found a way to tap into this pet market with a Membership Site that produces Pet Niche PLR material.

I opened this thread a couple hours ago and was in the process of writing a quick review….got busy doing something else then refreshed….well, with so many people sining praises I was gonna just delete mine, but figured what the heck :) here it is:

Hey fellow warriors…thought I’d take a second and give an honest review for Dennis’s Petniche membership.

pet private label right products and articlesFirst I have to say that always try to get anything that Dennis produces, he is a man of character so support is always excellent and the products he produces are always first class.

I have a membership in Petniches and would highly suggest you grab a membership at the wso price if you market in any of the pet niches. Although it’s only been open for a month or so, there is a nice variety of subjects covered plus when you sign up there is a huge selection of reports, books and articles on various pet niches.

I was really impressed with the way the membership site is set up…navigation is staightforward and easy, a very clean interface.

He has a forum that’s set up and would be a great place to exchange ideas, get help an find out what’s working what doesn’t. Once things get cooking it should be a great place.

Once you’re a member you can promote the site via affiliate link after a sale or two you’ll have your membership paid for! Considering the quality of the site it should be an easy sell.

Finally, there is a premade minisite or adsense site as some call them. Obviously you don’t have to use them, but the key to using these types of sites with success is the ability to modify them easily. Once again, Dennis makes it very easy to get the sites up and running, furthermore, they can be easily customized so that no 2 sites are the same.

Thanks Dennis for a great site, really look forward to see what the coming months bring!
